Your home is a canvas, full of potential. With the right interior painting, you can complement the architecture, overall design of your home, and your personality. With so many options, you can get that unique look that is both beautiful and bold or elegant and harmonious. When painting the interior of your home you do want to however, ensure it is unified and that the transition from one room to another is all pulled together. Below, we at L.W. Winslow Painting, Inc would like to share a few tips on how you can ensure the color schemes in your New York home are unified.
Whole House Paint Color Palette Tips
Connect the Spaces: The best place to start would be a large, open area of your house that also connects to other rooms, such as the entryway or living room, should you want to coordinate the color scheme optimally. You can branch out from there when you choose a color for these two rooms. A simply, yet beautiful choice for these rooms are neutral colors, such as gray or beige, but it is nothing you have to stick to. Just use a primary color you are attracted to. There are many neutral colors however, that are exciting.
Select Specific Paint Colors: You can choose colors for the rest of the individual rooms that complement the main color you have previously chosen. This planning will better help you provide smooth transitions from one room to another. Keep in mind you do not have to select the same colors or even similar ones. You just want the colors to complement each other instead of clash. For example, bright orange and hot pink are painful too look at together whereas a pale yellow paired with lavender are very easy on the eyes.
Accent Wall: When you are planning out the color scheme of your house, a great painting tool to consider is accent walls. It can provide color and excitement without overdoing it if you incorporate one or two of these in your home. Accent walls are ideal and can be incorporated throughout every room in the house.
Painting Ceilings & Trim: Ceilings and trim colors are also important, though most people tend to focus on the colors of the walls. These features are traditionally painted out, but you do not have to stick with classic colors. There are many incredible colors that will be ideally used, and the ceiling can even be the accent piece. Don’t be afraid to be creative, remember if you do not like it, you can simply paint over it.
Get Paint Color Inspiration: There are many websites that help promote creativity and give people ideas on how a color scheme can work in your home. Just remember to take in account the colors of your furniture and accessories as well as how natural light from the sun can alter the presentation.
