Children’s Bedrooms Paint Color Palettes
Grays – Gray colors are one of the least used colors used in a child’s room, especially nurseries. Most parents find gray tones empty and boring. Most parents want to shower their kid’s room with color. However, in recent years, the designers are using gray tones for modern designs with a splash of bright accent colors such as blues, oranges, yellows, red, or purples. With the neutral feel of gray, bolder colors can be used in a graceful and clean way for kid’s rooms.
Earth Tones – Earth tones, such as greens, tans, or even dark browns and creams, are used in a child’s room to bring a sense of warmth and nature. In most cases, earth tone colors are mixed together in different ways. They are best mixed with only one or two accent colors of paint and the brighter tones are used for décor or accessories.
Reds or Pinks – reds and pinks are bright and energetic colors that can be used as a single primary color or as accent colors with lighter colors, and mainly with white hues. Some will paint a single wall red or pink to add a burst of color to white or even purple colored walls.
Blues – Blues are a restful color that is known to help creativity and bring in calming moods. One color that never goes wrong is the blues. Blues are great for the primary color and looks great with yellow, grays and red accent colors.
Yellows – Yellow shades are great for brightening children’s rooms. However, it isn’t recommended to be used as a primary color. There are a number of creative ways to add yellow into a room. Wall art or murals can use a lot of yellow in a variety of ways such as simple stencils of birds, butterflies, or flowers against and blue or purple walls.
Greens – one of the earth tone colors, green hues are known to help remove stress and add creativity in children. Soft greens look great mixed with a bit of white or red for contrast.
Purples – purples can work well as a primary color. However, you will want to have accent colors to help break it up a bit. Yellows and white are great to use against purple walls. Soft lavenders are recommended for small rooms.
