Types of Paint Sheens
Paints are available in a many different sheens. Paints without a shine or sheen are referred to as flat or matte finishes. Satin or High Gloss Paint Sheens
Satin sheens are slightly more reflective and provide resistance against dirt and stains. Satin sheens can withstand cleaning better than flat or eggshell finishes. Satin Sheens are best suited to the family room, playroom, laundry room, kitchen, guest bathroom, dining room, children’s bedroom, trim and doors. Semi-gloss and glossy sheens create a bright shiny finish. Semi-gloss and glossy sheens are both durable. Semi-gloss finishes provide a high resistance to moisture. One of the disadvantages of glossy sheens is their ability to show every imperfection in a walls surface. Semi-gloss is best suited to the kitchen, bathrooms, cabinets, doors, trim and molding. Gloss is best suited to trim, woodwork, molding, doors, cabinets and kitchens.
