Bathrooms often require a major facelift over time with the constant exposure to moisture and humidity. Because of this, they become worn and rundown quicker than other rooms in the home. However most want their bathrooms to feel open and clean. With the right colors and lighting–and of course the care your bathroom can require–you can get the desired look and feel to fit your personality. There are three major moods that company different color schemes and– depending on the individual’s personality–the color may dictate the mood you find most desirable. L.W. Winslow Painting, Inc. will share the three major mood or themes and the color associated with those moods used in bathrooms.
Cool & Relaxing Bathroom Paint Colors
Some like to take the bath time as the time for them to relax and remove the stress of the day. The colors around you can help supply the relaxing mood that so many like to have in their bathrooms. Most find soft blues, light soft purples and soft greens accented with white trim does the trick. Cool colors with white accents help provide a sense of calm. Additionally, lighter soft hues help bring personality, but also they help make the bathroom feel more open and clean. Most will suggest keeping the walls a solid color. You may want to avoid adding accent paints on the wall and leave accent to the trims and items within the bathroom or you may create a closed in feeling, making the room feel small when using blue, green and purple hues.
Warm & Inviting Bathroom Paint Colors
For those who rely on the morning shower to begin their day and wake them up, or have a desire for a more warm and inviting personality in their bathroom, you will want a brighter color scheme. This could mean using warmer colors such as yellowish hues. Now don’t imagine a baby yellow color. Instead, envision more of a cream gold such as “butterfly bush” with multiple accent colors such as rosy white, bronze and off whites. These warmer colors help provide diversity. Warmer colors work well with half wall accents and do so without creating a closed in feeling or making the bathroom feel small.
Paint Neutral & Timeless Colors
For those who feel that a bathroom needs to be a place that is sterile and clean, but you desire more personality than what a plain white bathroom gives you, use a pure or neutral color scheme. When using such a light palette, you can also employ a half wall accent and other forms of accent on the wall itself and not just the trim work. One schemes suggested is to use a light grey, or almost white hue for the majority of the wall. You can use a pure white for trim and off white or cream colors for cabinets. You can use a few darker colors such as black on iron work or hardware within the bathroom. These color schemes can help add diversity even when using such sterile colors.
