You can use  a variety of tones of gray, either lighter or darker with white or gray toned floors. If you want a splash of color, consider a light blue or grayish blue tone. The blue contrast helps make the white or gray colored floor pop. For a super clean look you can also keep the walls white with gray trim.

Paint Colors that Go with Cherry Wood Floors

Another popular wood floor color is cherry woods, which add a rich coloring to the floor. When you want the floor to pop while creating an inviting atmosphere, consider painting the walls white. It may seem surprising since so many interior designers say to stay away from white walls. However with a rich cherry wood floor, you don’t need a colorful wall as sometimes the color can be distracting. White and red are very elegant and make a great choice. However, for those who love color, you can always use red on red. For a dramatic contrast, consider a green hue. You may want to bring a number a paint samples home and lay them on the floor to see which green hue flows best.

Wall Colors for Dark Wood Floors

For those really dark colored wood floors you will want to lighten up the room with a lighter colored paint on the walls or the room will feel cramped. For open floor plans with dark colored floor, you can use darker colors and not feel too cramped. However, smaller rooms need to go lighter for sure. Dark color wood floors look great against cool colors such as blues and greens. For a cleaner more spacious feel, go a super light warm color such as a light yellow and white with dark trim. They look elegant as well.

Paint Colors with Light Oak Wood Floors

Oak is associated with nature and is typically light in color.  You can use a number of colors with oak. They look great with warmer colors such as red. Light pastel colors also work wonderfully with oak. Oak provides a number of options which means you can pick the color you like. However, avoid unnatural colors like grays and white as they make the room dull against oak.
